Data Privacy Statement

Brigham Young University (BYU) and its Office of Information Technology, 1388 N. University Avenue, Provo, Utah, 84604, 801-422-4000, has generated this QR Code for the purpose of collecting demographic information from BYU ID Card Holders attending various campus events. The QR Code conveys information that will allow BYU to gather data from university data systems to identify demographic characteristics of BYU ID Card Holders in attendance at the event. The data collected may include name, race, gender, class standing, academic standing, and other socioeconomic information available on BYU systems.

This data will not be shared with third parties but is used by BYU leadership to determine which audiences are being served by campus events. The data will assist BYU leadership in planning more effective events to support the widest variety of students and to improve the university’s understanding of the impact of these events, activities, and services on student retention, success, and graduation. Data may also be used for targeted outreach and individual student support. Data gathered will be retained according to Data Retention policies in place at the university.

USERS CAN OPT OUT OF THIS DATA COLLECTION BY REJECTING THE QR CODE DISPLAY AND NOT PRESENTING THE QR CODE.
